Kate Morgan West grew up in the Seattle area and studied the humanities at Washington State University. She is an LGBT activist and has volunteered with Equal Rights Washington/Lambda Legal, the NOH8 Campaign and Lifelong AIDS Alliance/Seattle AIDS Walk among others. Her past publications include the Everett Herald, Illuminati Northwest Anthology, A Suburban Treehugger, The Green Mom, Merrybegot and The Seattle Lesbian. Kate has been featured on SheWired.com, Capitol Hill Blog, the Seattle P.I., the San Diego Gay & Lesbian News and in Curve Magazine for her work. Her forte is in political coverage, social activism and LGBT rights, as well as queer literature, films, music and theatre. She is also very much a treehugger and a poet at heart.
Kate has written freelance articles for a number of publications including The Seattle Examiner, Seattle Gay Scene, Edge Seattle and One Angry Queer. She has interviewed Elaina Ellis, Amber Darland, Marina Rice Bader, Nicole Conn, Grace Potter, Jody Cole, Adam Bouska, Jeff Parshley, Lenelle Moise, Leyla Farah, Fred Karger and more. She covered the Clinton/Murray and Obama/Murray rallies in Seattle in Fall 2010 and often reviews queer films, books, bands and live performances. Her current projects include a book and exciting new website in the works.
